Please read these Terms of Service ("Terms") carefully before using the GolfPal mobile application (the "Service") operated by GolfPal ("us", "we", or "our").

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the Service, you agree to be bound by these Terms. If you disagree with any part of the terms, then you may not access the Service. These Terms apply to all visitors, users, and others who access or use the Service.

2. Eligibility and Account

You must be at least 18 years of age to use GolfPal. By creating an account, you represent and warrant that you are a member of a registered golf club and that all information you provide is accurate. You are responsible for safeguarding your account password and for any activities or actions under your account.

3. Club Verification & Credits

GolfPal is a community-driven platform for golf club members. Access to certain features requires verification of your club membership. Credits are used to facilitate tee time requests. One credit is typically consumed per request sent. We reserve the right to modify credit allocation, verification requirements, and any associated fees at our discretion.

4. User Conduct & Etiquette

Users are expected to adhere to the highest standards of golf etiquette and professional conduct. This includes, but is not limited to:

  • Providing accurate information in profiles and requests.
  • Honoring confirmed tee times and notifying partners of cancellations promptly.
  • Respecting the rules and regulations of all golf courses visited.
  • Maintaining respectful communication within the app.

5. Prohibited Activities

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for any illegal purpose or in violation of any local, state, or international law.
  • Impersonate any person or entity or provide false membership credentials.
  • Interfere with or disrupt the Service or servers.
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any portion of the Service.

6. Limitation of Liability

In no event shall GolfPal, nor its directors, employees, or partners, be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, including without limitation, loss of profits, data, use, or other intangible losses, resulting from your access to or use of the Service. Specifically, GolfPal is not responsible for any expenses incurred (including travel, accommodation, or green fees) for a round which is cancelled at the last minute by the host.

7. Termination

We may terminate or suspend access to our Service immediately, without prior notice or liability, for any reason whatsoever, including without limitation if you breach the Terms. Upon termination, your right to use the Service will immediately cease.

8. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed and construed in accordance with the laws of the United Kingdom, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

9. Changes

We reserve the right, at our sole discretion, to modify or replace these Terms at any time. By continuing to access or use our Service after those revisions become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised terms.

  • Profile Information: Handicap, home club, and optional profile photo.

  • Location Data: With your explicit consent, we process location data to help you find nearby courses and playing partners.

2. Data Usage and Purpose

Your data is used to:

  • Facilitate connections between club members and manage tee time requests.
  • Verify your eligibility and maintain the integrity of our community.
  • Provide personalized recommendations for golf courses and partners.
  • Communicate essential service updates and notifications.

3. PII and "Privacy by Design"

We implement strict Personally Identifiable Information (PII) controls. Your contact details (email/phone) are never displayed publicly. This information is only shared with another user once a tee time request is "Confirmed", ensuring privacy during the discovery phase.

4. Security Measures

We employ industry-leading security practices to protect your data:

  • Encryption: All data transmitted between the app and our servers is encrypted using TLS/SSL.
  • Secure Storage: We utilize Supabase's enterprise-grade infrastructure, featuring robust database security and authentication protocols.
  • Access Control: Access to user data is strictly limited to authorized personnel and systems required for service delivery.

5. Data Sharing and Third Parties

GolfPal does not sell or rent your personal information to third parties. Data is only shared with:

  • Verified members of the GolfPal community (as described in section 3).
  • Essential service providers (e.g., Supabase) who are contractually bound to protect your data.

6. Your Rights

You maintain full control over your data. You may:

  • Access and update your profile information at any time.
  • Request the deletion of your account and all associated personal data.
  • Manage notification preferences and location permissions through your device settings.

7. GDPR and International Compliance

We strive to comply with global data protection standards, including GDPR. We process data based on the necessity of performing our contract with you and our legitimate interest in providing a safe golf community.
